Addendum to the Recovery Strategy for Forked Three-awned Grass (Aristida basiramea) in Canada November 2006

There is ‘good news’ to report on a recent discovery of new populations of this species. Survey data submitted to Parks Canada just prior to posting this recovery strategy identifies seven new populations near Midland, Ontario, increasing the number of known populations in Canada to twelve.

As a result of this recent development, Parks Canada, in consultation with Environment Canada, the province of Ontario and Quebec and the Beausoleil First Nation, has decided to proceed with posting the recovery strategy and to incorporate the new data into action plans to be developed in the next stage of recovery planning. Parks Canada will also provide the new information to COSEWIC for their consideration.
